ANNAPURNA CIRCUIT TREK
20 nights / 21 days
 
A very few places in the world may have such a splendid variety of natural beauty as of Annapurna  Region. It is a rare combination of long arrays of snow capped peaks, crystal clear lakes, turbulent rivers within deep gorges, Tibetan monasteries, hot-springs, and picturesque villages inhabited by honest and friendly locals. This trek takes you far from the maddening crowd, into the heart of the high mountains. The challenging Thorung La pass will make you feel as if your are atop of the world.
 
ITINERARY

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu (1350m)
Arrival in Kathmandu Airport and transfer to the  hotel .

Day 02: Kathmandu (
3-4 hrs/1300m)
Half day sightseeing at Kathamandu. O/N at hotel.

Day 03: Kathmandu - Besi Sahar(
5- 6 hrs/760m)
Drive via Mugling and Dumre along the bank of Trishuli river and to north along the Marsyangdi valley. O/N at Hotel or camp.

Day 04: Beshishar – Bahundanda (
6 hrs/1310m)
Walk along the Marshyngdi valley through rice fields, banana and mango orchard.Cross a bridge at Bhulbhule & another river at Ngadi, start the climb to Bhaundanda .

Day 05: Bahundanda – Chamje
(6-7 hrs/2670m)
Here we can see the vibrant local Buddhist culture. Walk downhill to Syanje & cross the bridge on the Marshyangdi river. Walk Along the river & climb up to Jagat.

Day 06: Chamje - Bagarchhap
(6-7 hrs/2160m)
Crossing several bridges on the Marsangdi river, there is a narrow valleys between Mansalu range and Annapurna sub-range of Lamjung Himal. Trek mostly up hill with some waterfalls and mix vegetation. After Dharapani there is one path ascends to Manag.

Day 07: Bagarchhap – Chame
(6-7 hrs/2670m)
Interesting  walk with full of green vegetation and interesting villages with high altitude life style. Passing the Hot spring, visit the other side of Marsyangdi river. Chame is the headquarter of Manang district.

Day 08: Chame – Pisang
(5-6hrs/3190m)
After an hour walk through Bharthang village with Apple gardens, cross the river again. Little climb to peaceful pine forest leads to the wide Manag valley. The trail goes through deep forest to Pisang (3190 m) with good views along the way of Pisang Peak and the Annapurna II.

Day 09: Pisang - Manang
(5-6 hrs/ 3540m
As the walk starts to climb towards Manang  through the  fields of  grazing Yak and wide variety of crops Tibetan culture can be witnessed. It is no problem to trek here in the summer as the rainfall is very low.

Day 10: Acclimatization at Manang
(Full day /3540 m)
This is the rest day to acclimatize to the higher altitude . Explore the local valley.

Day 11: Manang – Yak Kharka
(5hrs/4250m)
Leaving mine village path goes up to Thanki village. Life style here is much different than of other countryside like anywhere in Himalayas. With mud roof, Small windows, smoky kitchen, dark tunnel like doorways. Path goes up hill right hand side views with Annapurnas, Gungapurna and Tilicho pikes. Heading northwest  & passing Yak Kharka arrive at Latdar where we camp at the altitude of 4250 m).

Day 12: Yakkharka- Thorung Phedi (
3-4hrs/4420m)
The trail leads down hill to river & climb up to Thorung phedi .Here it is possible to see herds of blue mountain sheep along the dramatic cliffs that surrounds the camping meadow at Thorang Phedi .

Day 13: Thorung Phedi-Muktinath
(8-10 hrs/3760m)
Steep ascend to a 4590m, then along an undulating trail to the flat top of Thorung La (5416m.) From here there are views of the Annapurna range and Mukut Himal bordering Dolpo. The trail descends steeply over glacial moraine, which gives way to grassy meadows before we reach Muktinath (an important  pilgrimage site to Hindus). Muktinath is also home to many ethnic Tibetans and Buddhists Lamas.

Day 14: Muktinath – Marpha (jomsom)

Descend gradually through fields and popular groves then into Kaligandaki river valley passing through Gurung and Thakali villages. It is a very windy walk. 

Day 15: Marpha -Kalopani
(6-7 hrs/2560m)
Leaving beautiful village Marpha, walking along side of Kaligandaki river passing Tukuche the old Thakali trading centre, after crossing the bridge arrive Kalopani.From here spectacular 360 degrees view of Mt. Dhaulagiri can be seen.

Day 16: Kalopani - Tatopani
(7- 8 hrs/1120m
Leaving the village of Kalopani a beautiful walk with another transition into subtropical vegetation. The trail follows the river through a narrow gorge and descends to cross a bridge before winding through the valley to Tatopani. Arrive at Tatopani sub-tropical temperature with Orange gardens, Hot spring. Take hot spring bath here.

Day 17: Tatopani - Ghorepani
(7-8 hrs/2850m)
Steadily climbing all day, we eventually leave behind the terraced fields & walk through thick rhododendron forest to the village of Ghorepani. We camp at the pass for the best views of the sunset over the spectacular, snow-capped Mt. Dhaulagiri & Annapurna range.

Day 18: Ghorepani - Ghandrung
(6-7 hrs/1940m)
Wake up early morning and climb up to Pun hill(3150 m) for sunrise over the Himalayas. Breakfast walk up hill towards Tadapani (2600). Walk through the  Rhododendron forest. A short early-morning climb to the Deurali pass for a spectacular panorama over Dhaulagiri & the Annapurnas. Reach Tada Pani and  continue walk to Ghandruk ,a typical gurung village with beautiful stone houses.

Day 19: Ghandrung –Pothana-Dhampus
(6-7 hrs/1900m)
The path descends for about 02 hours before climbing the gurung village of Landrung. We then follow the hill side south to Dhampus. The mountain views are superb here.

Day 20: Dhampus - Phedi - Pokhara (
3 hrs walk &1 hr drive/960m)
Morning with good views of mountains and descend down through Dhampus village and steeply down on stone step to Phedi and drive back to Hotel in Pokhara.

Day 21: Pokhara-Kathamandu (
6 hrs/1350 m)
Fly (35 minutes)or drive to Kathamandu.

 
(After this trek, an extension tour for Jungle safari, Rafting and pilgrimage tour to Lumbini(birth place of Buddha ) can be organized .)
